Home Cinema Installation - Case Study 7
The Brief
The owner of this house wanted a plasma screen with home cinema sound but did not want to see any cabling or equipment as the room was filled with fine furniture and antiques.
The Solution
An antique unit was purchased to house control equipment, and placed in the corner of the room but still within 5m of the screen to minimise cable lengths. Aerial inputs and mains were relocated to the rear of the unit, and a black bass box placed between the unit and curtain to keep it unobtrusive.
A substantial ducting was then chased into the wall and below the floor. The original floorboards would have been difficult to replace so removing them to run cables to the unit was a delicate operation. Rear speaker cables come straight out of the floor, through the stand and into the speakers. Antique furniture was placed beneath the screen to finish off the installation.
