Saatchi & Saatchi Restaurant AV System Installation Case Study - Case Study 4
The Brief
The clients wanted a high-end entertainment system in an adjacent building with two stories plus a third-floor mezzanine. The building was partly restaurant, partly for company presentations during office hours, and a venue for social events after hours.
High-quality audio was needed throughout with independent volume control for each floor. A projector was needed to produce a high-quality image on a white wall visible from all 3 floors, without a screen. A 50-inch plasma screen was needed on the ground floor, and both plasma and projector were to be linked to both a Mac for presentations, or Sky for general viewing. Extra audio points were needed for use with either iPod or DJ equipment.
The Solution
For the audio we chose a Bang & Olufsen hi-fi with hard drive and high-quality speakers, along with 5 extra sets of speakers wall-mounted on the ground and first floors, and speakers in the rest rooms - all controlled independently with Bang & Olufsen's Beolink system, and compatible with iPod and DJ requirements.
On the video side we demonstrated a couple of projector options on site so the clients could decide which was the most suitable. The amount of light pouring in through the velux windows was a significant problem for picture quality, but we alleviated this by applying a light reduction film to the windows. The 50-inch plasma screen on the ground floor was wall-mounted, and can receive the same images as the projector.
