Home Cinema Installation - Case Study 3
The Brief
Our client in Solihull was carrying out a total refurbishment of his home. He wanted:
- a dedicated Home Cinema room with drop-down screen and projector;
- smaller home cinema system in the family room ;
- a multiroom system to allow choice of music and distribution to 14 zones, including the swimming pool, garden area, and hot tub;
- programmable lighting system in selected rooms and outside areas of the house.
The Solution
As the client had a reasonable budget to work with, we selected a projector from the Infocus range, together with an 8ft, 16:9 ratio, electric screen. The projector was fitted on a drop-down mechanism, to be hidden away in the ceiling void when not is use. Together with Sonance in-wall speakers, an excellent home cinema was produced, with associate equipment from Denon and Sky. Racks were used to store the equipment.
The audio equipment was linked to a full Living Control multiroom system. This controlled the music from the Living Control Musicbox server, via remote control or wall plates, as well as the lighting and blinds. This covered the kitchen, study, bedrooms, garden, swimming pool, hot tub, and patio area.
In the family room, a Bose Lifestyle surround sound system and Fujitsu 50" plasma screen provided everything needed for family relaxation.
In the master bedroom, we installed a Fujitsu 50" plasma screen with speakers and Skybox for independent use.
A computer programmed lighting system from Rako Controls was installed in the Home Cinema room, kitchen, master bedroom, family room, and outside areas. Operation was via wall plates in conjunction with the Living Control, and remote controls. Rako Control modules are wireless, can be installed onto existing wiring circuits, and can also control blinds and curtains.
The whole project was achieved working closely with the client, builders, and electricians.
