Multi-room Entertainment System Installation - Case Study 2
The Brief
Our clients had recently purchased and refurbished a farmhouse in the Cotswolds, and they wanted a multi-room entertainment system to cover nine rooms. In addition one of the rooms was to have surround sound and a plasma screen, another a projector and screen, and the kitchen a plasma. Budget was not unlimited.
The Solution
As a reasonable budget was a must, we decided to opt for Bose sound equipment throughout the property, with Pioneer screens in both the main drawing room and kitchen. In the master bedroom we chose a Sanyo projector and remote controlled motorised screen.
The Bose system was used for surround sound in the drawing room with the Pioneer screen, and a bank of Bose amps was located in a large cupboard under the stairs to drive the speakers in all the other rooms.
The Pioneer screen in the kitchen was stand-alone, and not linked into the Bose system. However, music could still be accessed through additional speakers in this area from the main drawing room Bose system.
In the master bedroom a purpose-built unit hid the projector and the screen was placed so that it covered the main bedroom window when in use.
A major task was to install all the cabling and ceiling speakers throughout the property without damaging any of the original fabric of the building. This was achieved by working with other on-site contractors, and on completion there was very little indication of any major disruption, with all home entertainment equipment blending in perfectly with the surroundings.
